Moorhead will be opening its Sandbag Operations Center, located at 1313 30th Ave. S, starting Wednesday, March 27, 2019 and will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sundays, until Wednesday, April 3 or until the goal is met.
Because of its previous flood efforts, it's estimated that Moorhead needs 150,000 sandbags. Volunteers should register online for a 2-hour shift and sign a waiver before arriving at the Sandbag Operations Center.
Volunteers can ride MATBUS free, just by telling the driver they are on their way to sandbag. Route 5 will drop you off right at the Sandbag Operations Center parking lot or at a bus stop one block south. MATBUS will be running during all hours of sandbag operations, except for Sundays. These bus stop locations are highlighted on the map above. For more specific bus trip planning, use the Google Maps Trip Planner or call 701.232.7500 option 1.
