Upcoming Route & Service Changes

Any confirmed system changes will be listed below, organized by the start date. If there are nothing listed below, then there are no confirmed upcoming changes.

December 17, 2025 - Industrial Park

On-Demand service to the Industrial Park will be eliminated. Its last day of operation will be December 16, 2025. NDSU On-Demand will continue to operate as usual.

This service was originally scheduled to end on December 31, but will be ending early to assist in driver scheduling as MATBUS drivers transition to City of Fargo staff. This service has also seen decreasing demand for ridership.

January 1, 2026 - Service and Fare Changes

These changes were approved by the Fargo City Commission on September 2 and 29, 2025, after going through the public comment and public hearing process.

Fare Increase & Additions

This change will permanently increase the price of fixed route and paratransit cash bus fares, as well as add a 7-day pass option for passengers. This change does not include increasing any bus pass prices.

City of Fargo Transit cash bus fares have not been adjusted since 2009.

MATBUS Connect 31-day fare capping will remain the same. Daily fare capping will continue to include 2qty adult rides, so the amount will increase from $3.00 to $4.00.

Paratransit Coupons

After the price increase, Paratransit riders will still be able to use any leftover $3.00 coupons. They will just have to add a $1.00 bill or a $1.00 coupon in order to reach the single-ride fare.

$1.00 coupons are available for purchase at the MATBUS Administrative Office, 650 23rd St N in Fargo. They are available in books of 20 coupons, and can also be purchased individually if you have fewer than 20 $3.00 coupons left.

Paratransit drivers will have $3.00 and $1.00 coupon books for sale on the bus starting December 19, 2025. They will sell the $3.00 and $1.00 books together to reach the new $4.00 fare until the $3.00 coupon book inventory is gone. They will also sell $1.00 coupon books, but will not sell single tickets.

Route & Service Changes

Route 15
The pilot program for Route 15 timing (began May 2025) was approved as a permanent change. This increased Route 15 from a 60-minute route to a 90-minute route to improve on-time performance. Alignment will also be adjusted slightly to serve the 13th Ave Cash Wise, which is currently served by Route 16.

Route 15 Timetable

Route 16
Route 16 will be eliminated. Its last day of operation will be December 31, 2025.

In order to cover some of the areas originally served by Route 16, other routes will shift paths in a couple areas.

Route 14 will take 4th St S on its way back to the GTC, rather than 10th St S.

Route 15 will divert south off 13th Ave between 33rd and 34th St S, in order to reach Cash Wise.
